Privacy Policy

Monori is a personal diary made by SoraWave Labs ("we", "us"). A diary is one of the most intimate things a person can keep, and this policy explains, in plain language, exactly what we collect, why, and what we will never do with it.

1. What we collect

Account

• Email and password. Passwords are stored only as a secure hash (bcrypt); we cannot read them.
• Sign in with Apple (optional). If you use it, Apple shares a stable identifier and, on your first sign-in only, your name and email (which may be Apple's private relay address if you choose Hide My Email). Apple-only accounts have no password.
• Optional profile details: first name, last name, birthday, gender, journaling language, and appearance preferences. All of these are optional and used only to personalize the app.

Your diary

• What you write or say in a session and the entries created from it, stored on our servers so your journal syncs and is never lost.
• Photos you attach. Stored privately; they are served only through signed, expiring links that cannot be guessed or shared publicly.
• Mood, sensed from your own words (positive, neutral, or low) to draw your personal charts. It is a reflection, never a clinical measure.
• Optional context, all off by default: a coarse city-level location tag (never precise coordinates), a weather snapshot, and a quick pre-writing mood. Each is a separate opt-in switch in Settings.

Connected health (optional)

If you connect Apple Health or Health Connect, the app reads sleep, steps, active energy, exercise minutes, and resting heart rate, aggregates them on your device, and sends us only one daily summary. Raw health samples never leave your phone. You can disconnect at any time, which deletes the summaries from our servers.

Voice

Voice works two ways. The quick dictation mic is transcribed by your phone's own speech service and that audio never reaches our servers. The immersive "Hearth" ramble (a Premium feature) records your voice and uploads the recording to our server, which forwards it once to our AI transcription provider under a no-retention routing policy to turn it into text; the audio is not stored by us and the recording on your device is deleted after it is transcribed.

Purchases

Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple (and Google Play on Android). We receive a receipt confirming your subscription status. We never see or store card numbers.

What the app does not collect

Inside Monori itself: no advertising identifiers, no third-party analytics trackers, no contact lists, no precise location, no background tracking of any kind. Your diary is never touched by advertising.

The website (monori.app)

Our public marketing site — the pages you're reading now, not the app — uses Google Ads cookies so we can measure whether our ads bring people to Monori (for example, that a visitor clicked "Download on the App Store"). This is ordinary ad measurement, on the website only. It has no access to your account, your diary, or anything you write in the app, and it never runs inside the app. You can block it with any browser tracking protection, ad blocker, or by declining cookies.

2. How AI is involved (please read this part)

Monori's core feature is turning what you say into a written entry. To do that, the text of your session (and, for context, your recent entries) is sent securely to large-language-model providers:

• OpenRouter (our primary gateway), configured so your text is routed only to model endpoints with no-retention, no-training policies.
• Anthropic (our fallback), which does not train on API data.

These providers process your words solely to produce your entry, follow-up questions, weekly reflections, and similar features, and return the result to us. Your diary is never used to train AI models and is never sold. If you connected health data, the daily summary may be included as gentle context for your entries; you can prevent that by disconnecting health.

3. How we use your information

• To provide the service: write and store your entries, build your journal, mood charts, reminders, patterns, and weekly reflections.
• Safety: when an entry contains explicit crisis language, the app may show supportive resources in the moment. Like entry writing, this check sends the session text to our AI provider under the same no-retention policy; its result is not stored, and is never a diagnosis.
• To operate, secure, and debug the service. Our logs do not include your diary text.

4. Storage, security, and retention

• All traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
• Passwords are hashed; sessions use expiring tokens; photo links are signed and expire.
• Your data is kept while your account is active, so your journal is always there when you return.

5. Deleting your data

Settings → Delete account permanently erases your account and everything in it: entries, photos (including the files themselves), reminders, and any health summaries. If you signed in with Apple, we also revoke the app's connection to your Apple ID. This is immediate and cannot be undone. Premium members can export their whole journal first.

6. Sharing

We do not sell your data, and we never share your diary, account, or health information with advertisers. The only advertising technology we use is the marketing-website ad measurement described in section 1, which has no access to your account or anything you write. Otherwise, data is processed only by the service providers needed to run Monori: our hosting infrastructure, the AI providers described above, and Apple/Google for sign-in and billing. We may disclose information if the law genuinely requires it.

7. Children

Monori is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Your rights

You can read, edit, export (Premium), and delete your data directly in the app at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have additional legal rights (such as access or portability requests); we honor these for everyone. Write to us and we will help.

9. Changes

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we will update the date above and let you know in the app before the change applies to you.
